This burgonet is built on the "close helm" principle. Both visor and bevor rotate on a common pivot. The example shown has a lifting, pierced visor. Other visor styles, such as barred visors and falling buffes can also be made. The visor and bevor are each latched with a spring-pin and sneck hook arrangement. This mechanism acts as a double-lock for improved safety against the helmet opening accidentally during combat.

The pierced visor of this model allows surprisingly good breathability and vision for a closed-face helm.

This version has been improved by the addition of sunken and rolled/roped borders. This treatment was extremely common in period. It not only adds to the beauty of the helmet, it also strengthens areas of the helmet that are most prone to damage.
